Colovaria opened as a small salon studio after the pandemic. Jacyann Tetrault founded it after working at other salons, and the studio is built around her blonding, color and extension work.

The name comes from a slang term for a hair-color spell in the Harry Potter books. The salon says it aims to be clear, confident and creative, with a comfortable, relaxing and welcoming setting.

The salon says the health and integrity of each client's hair come first. The stylist works with the client to find the treatment and upkeep level their hair needs.

Appointments are booked online through Square. New clients booking color or extension services have a complimentary consultation first, and a deposit holds the appointment at that visit. Color correction is only booked after a consultation. Online requests are confirmed once the stylist approves them, and bookings can be made up to three months ahead.

Saturday appointments need a deposit to be approved: $100 for color and $50 for cut and style, and they follow a 72-hour cancellation window. Other cancellations within 48 hours carry a fee that varies by service and must be paid before rebooking. The salon is closed Sunday through Tuesday and open Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 8pm.
