Chicago colorist Amy Daniel-Moser and her husband, Rudy Moser, launched a.salon in 2018 as one studio. It now operates two locations, in Pilsen and Lincoln Park. The founders designed the business around beauty that is simpler, more sustainable and more inclusive.

The salon describes itself as environmentally conscious, cruelty-free and vegan-friendly. It partners with Green Circle Salons to recycle and repurpose salon waste, and says it diverts up to 95% of its waste, including hair, foils and color byproducts, from landfills. Its primary product line is Maria Nila, which it describes as vegan-formulated and sustainability-focused, and it also carries Milbon and Aware Hair products.

Services fall into three groups: color, cuts and trims, and extensions. Pricing is gender neutral and set by the experience level of the stylist or colorist, so the same service can be priced differently depending on who does it. Most prices are listed as starting points and may change. Double process color, foilyage, corrective color and creative color require a consultation before booking, and consultations are complimentary.
