617 Aesthetics & Electrolysis is run by its owner, Aisha D., who also provides the services. The studio is in Newton, with free parking available, and visits are by appointment only.

Permanent hair removal is done either by laser, using an Alex or YAG system, or by electrolysis using galvanic, blend or thermolysis methods. Hair can be reduced or cleared using feathering, full clearance, or a combination of the two. Laser treatment can be used on any area of the body except the eyelids. A typical course runs 6 to 12 sessions spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart, and results may be permanent or may need a touch-up every 6 to 12 months, depending on hair and skin type. Clients are asked to stop plucking, waxing and tanning six weeks before the first laser session. The studio works with transgender clients on both hair removal and permanent makeup, and the stated suitability covers all skin tones, hair textures and hair colors.

The permanent makeup side of the business uses semi-permanent pigment deposited into the skin's upper layers. Offerings include microblading, shading, powder brows, lip blushing and reshaping, eyeliner enhancement, pigment restoration, areola restoration, and scalp micropigmentation. Nano brows and lip neutralization are available for oily, combination or melanated skin. Paramedical tattooing can address stretch marks, scars and areas after surgery. How long color lasts ranges from roughly one to three years, varying with skin type, aftercare, everyday habits and sun exposure, and refresher sessions every one to two years keep it looking current. Healing typically takes one to two weeks, and the final look settles in after about 30 days or longer. A topical numbing cream may be applied before and during treatment for comfort.

A consultation is required before any PMU or paramedical tattoo service, and before electrolysis sessions longer than 2 hours. Clients are asked to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to complete forms, and children may not be in the service area unless they are being treated. Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9am to 8pm, Wednesday 2pm to 8pm, and Saturday 9am to 4pm, with the studio closed on Sundays. Changes to bookings need 24 hours notice for services up to an hour and 48 hours for longer appointments. Same-day cancellations are charged $50 per hour of booked service, or the package equivalent. Half the cost or booking fee is due at booking, with the balance paid on the day of service.
