Vilma Subel

Vilma Subel founded Xiphium Salon, where she works as a stylist, and co-opened the salon in fall 1996. She also started the American Beauty Vision Awards. Earlier she worked in Aveda salons in Milwaukee and Kansas City, then served as a traveling educator for Aveda. In 1995 she performed on stage at the Aveda Congress Festival, which she counts as a career highlight.

Her work has been featured in hair shows, industry, local and national magazines, social media, and Kansas City Fashion Week, and she has taught classes across the country. Her training includes IBA College of Cosmetology and time under Horst Rechelbacher, the founder of Aveda. She has also studied with instructors at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Toronto, at Toni and Guy in Long Beach, California, and at The Aveda Institute in London, and she has completed haircut design training in London four separate times.

She specializes in haircutting and in creating texture and curls. Perming is also among her skills. She is a 4th Degree Reiki Practitioner and a Certified Embeautyment Practitioner. She wants every client to feel the look was made for them.

She has received awards for ten years of volunteering with the American Cancer Society's Look Good Feel Better program. She also earned second place in the seven-state region for fundraising for Aveda's Earth Month in 2013.
