Verlano Alves

Verlano Alves owns Verlano Alves Hair Studio and works as a Brazilian hair stylist. Hair has been the only job held, spanning twenty-seven years: fourteen in the United States and thirteen in Brazil.

The career began in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, before the move to the United States. Work in large salons in New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia came before the studio. Training includes L'Oréal Professionnel and Wella Professionals, cosmetology training completed in the United States, mega hair method training described as the Brazilian method of color matching and then cutting extensions to shape, and visagism training in Brazil, with courses still being taken.

Focus areas are color, including colorimetry, formula mixing, highlights and cutting, along with long transformations that take more than one visit. Verlano Alves works in Portuguese or English. The consultation is done in person and seated before any cutting or coloring begins.
