Universe Walker

Universe Walker is a Master Stylist and Colorist at CutLoose BK in Brooklyn. Her hair career began at 15, when she worked as a salon floor sweeper, assisted at hair shows and apprenticed at her first salon. She then completed two intensive apprenticeships and trained in precision, razor, dry and curly cutting. Her specialties include dry cutting, natural texture work, precision cutting and razor cutting. She cuts curls, waves and straight hair, and she has a particular interest in shag, mullet, bob and bangs styles, as well as cuts built around strong shape and motion. She developed a named cutting method called Juxtaposed Cutting. For color, she makes deliberate, bold placements such as pops, panels and blocks. She also travels the country as an independent hair educator, teaching stylists how to cut hair of every texture. Her stated aim is an inclusive, collaborative salon space where clients can be themselves.
