About

Steven J. Pearlman is a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon in Manhattan and the founder of Pearlman Aesthetic Surgery, a private practice he set up in 2000. He is dual board certified in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, and his listed credentials include MD and FACS. He earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Brandeis University, graduating magna cum laude with high honors in 1978, and received his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1982. He completed an otolaryngology-head and neck surgery residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1987, then a facial plastic surgery fellowship at St. Luke's/Roosevelt Hospital from 1987 to 1988. The practice cites over 37 years of experience and more than 12,000 rhinoplasty procedures, and separately mentions over 7,500 rhinoplasties and septoplasties. His areas of focus include rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty, septorhinoplasty, piezo ultrasonic and preservation rhinoplasty, functional and cosmetic nasal surgery, facelifts including deep plane facelifts, and treatment of facial aging across the nose, face and eyes. Colleagues who perform primary rhinoplasty often refer their revision patients to him. Two residents from New York Presbyterian Hospital presented a study of 104 of his consecutive revision rhinoplasty patients at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The most common concerns in that group were tip asymmetry, a crooked middle third and an irregular upper third of the nose. The site describes him as transparent in his recommendations and says he will not suggest a procedure he does not believe serves the patient. He directs the Center for Aesthetic Facial Surgery at the New York Head and Neck Institute, Northwell Health (Northshore-LIJ), and is an attending surgeon at Lenox Hill Hospital and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. He is a Clinical Professor at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and a fellowship director and preceptor in facial plastic surgery for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, where he was past president in 2004 and 2005. He founded the New York Facial Plastic Surgery Society, teaches fellows and residents, and lectures internationally on rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty and facial aging. According to the practice, he has been named a Top Doctor more than 10 times by New York Magazine and Castle Connolly, has won the Patients' Choice Award more than 10 times, and was a Castle Connolly Top Doctor each year from 2018 through 2025. Outside the office, he sits on the medical advisory board of the Little Babyface Foundation, performs pro bono reconstructive surgery for children born with facial deformities, takes part in the National Domestic Violence Project, and has provided pro bono surgery and local doctor education in China, Honduras and Vietnam through the Face to Face program.

Approach
He designs a personalized surgical plan for each revision rhinoplasty patient and examines every patient for a deviated septum, even those seeking only rhinoplasty.
