About
Sophia Serrano launched The Head Spa following a long period working in medicine as a physician associate. Her decades in regenerative and evidence-based medicine included working in close collaboration with specialists in areas such as vascular and plastic surgery, wound management, skin grafting, and circulatory disorders of the arteries and veins. Early in her research career in the United States, she contributed to studies exploring stem cells as a way to encourage new blood vessels to form. After moving away from academic medicine to open the studio, she drew on earlier posts as an academic researcher, a medical practice consultant, and an assistant professor. She was also named an instructor for Evidence-Based Practice at UT Southwestern. Serrano founded Sophia Michelle Aesthetics in University Park and went on to further study at Oxford, concentrating on medical decision-making grounded in research. At The Head Spa, her work centers on scalp and hair health, tailored anti-aging treatments, and options for hair loss. She also writes blog posts for the studio about scalp care and blowouts.
