Rachel Anne Warren

Rachel Anne Warren owns and runs Frederick Wig Company and is its only employee. She trained as a traditional wig maker, studied privately for about two years with Michael Meyer, a German-born wig master and teacher, and has taken courses on European hair types and hair types in general from Lux Symbolica. She has also taken virtual and in-person classes with Gretchen Evans. She is a licensed barber and stylist.

Her work includes making custom handmade wigs and hairpieces, along with cutting, styling, coloring, perms and alterations on wigs from the shop. She has built wigs and pieces for equity theaters, ballets, and network film and television productions. She worked in the corporate sector for about ten years and was a professional singer for about ten years, until the pandemic. Her personal essays have been published in O, The New York Times, Catapult, VICE and Greatist.

Warren makes each custom piece to fit the individual client. When work can be done remotely but a head mold has to be made in person, she refers clients to a local wigmaker.
