Philip S. Schoenfeld, M.D.

Philip S. Schoenfeld, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a facial plastic surgeon who founded Renu by Dr. Schoenfeld and serves as its medical director. He performs the cosmetic facial procedures at the practice's Chevy Chase, Maryland and Washington, DC locations. He has treated patients in Washington, DC and Maryland since 1998 and has more than two decades of experience in the region. His undergraduate degree is in chemistry from Hobart College. He holds a medical degree from New York Medical College and completed residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He served ten years in the U.S. Army, five of them with the 82nd Airborne Division, and was chief of the Department of Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He is double board certified in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, and the practice notes he is also board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He serves on the written board review committee and as an oral board examiner for the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a clinical associate professor of surgery at Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he teaches upcoming practitioners, and he practices at Washington Hospital Center, Georgetown University Hospital and Sibley Memorial Hospital. Rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty are his most common operations. For secondary cases he favors an open approach through a small incision at the base of the nose, and in the most complex revisions he uses grafts from the scalp, ear or rib. He also performs deep plane, mini and weekend facelifts, neck lifts, brow lifts, eyelid surgery, otoplasty, scar revision, fat injections, thread lifts, NeoGraft hair restoration, and liposuction with surgical and non-surgical methods. He treats trauma patients and holds that facelifts should generally not be done on patients under 40. Patients come from around the world for first and second opinion consultations. The practice says he has been named a Top Doctor in several local and national publications, including a Top Cosmetic Surgeon listing from DC Magazine, and that Washingtonian has listed him as a Top Doctor since 2000. His work has been featured in the Washington Post and Parade Magazine. Through the Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery's Face to Face program, he provides free care to victims of disfiguring domestic violence. He works with Project Access for underserved and indigent patients and supports Knock Out Abuse, Becky's Fund and Lolly's Locks.
