About

Dr. Patrick H. Bitter, Sr., MD is a dermatologist who works as Medical Director and co-founder of Epi Center MedSpa. He moved his dermatology practice into aesthetic medicine in 1979, starting with chemical peels, dermabrasion, injectable collagen and CO2 laser resurfacing. He took part as an investigator in the FDA clinical study of injectable collagen.

By the late 1980s, he was collaborating with laser manufacturers on the development of CO2 laser resurfacing. He was one of only 11 US physicians in FDA trials of IPL for hair removal. From 1994 he investigated IPL for skin rejuvenation and developed the IPL PhotoFacial procedure. He has advised ESC Medical Systems/Lumenis and Palomar on technologies and treatment protocols. He served as a medical advisor to The Oprah Winfrey Show and contributed to the book Beating Rosacea: Vascular, Ocular, and Acne Forms.

He was named Dermatologist of the Year in 2013. He also received an American Cancer Society award presented by Lynne Cheney. He co-founded Epi Center MedSpa in 1998 with Margaret Mitchell, having partnered with her since 1996.
