Nicky

Nicky owns and styles at Marigold & Opal in Alexandria. Professional work began in 2005 with an apprenticeship and a first salon job in Oakton, Virginia, where almost 13 years were spent.

A 2017 transfer within the same company led to a salon in Old Town, Alexandria, a stint of three years. Custom hairstyles have been provided across Northern Virginia for more than 15 years.

Detailed haircuts, blonde color and bangs form the core of the work, and blonding and balayage are a specialty. Cuts aim to flatter the face and stay easy to style, with shags, pixies and model cuts among the options. Current trends are followed and new ideas are tried.

Training includes classes from Tigi, Wella, Bumble and Bumble, Oscar Bond, Brianna Cisneros, Ren Shaw, Sonya Dove, Tara McAdams and Shannon Rha. Makeup school is also part of the background.
