Monica Bonakdar

Monica Bonakdar, MD, founded Bonakdar Aesthetics, a Newport Beach practice where she focuses on cosmetic dermatology and nonsurgical cosmetic treatments. She has been in private practice in Newport Beach for more than 20 years and set up the practice after returning to Orange County. She is a dermatologist who also provides facials, and her work centers on non-surgical, high-tech therapies, including laser treatments.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine, graduating cum laude with Phi Beta Kappa honors, then a Doctor of Medicine from the UC Irvine School of Medicine. Her internship and residency were at UCLA. She has piloted products for aesthetic companies including CoolTone, Jeuveau, Latisse and Juvederm, and she instructs, lectures and speaks at peer conferences. She personally injected 43,000 units of Botox Cosmetic in the last year and teaches other injectors best practices.

She has spent more than 20 years on non-surgical body contouring techniques and created the AmpliPhi Filler Technique, a filler approach based on measurements and filler placement. She also created the MonBon Clinical Skincare line and the MonBon Wellness Program. Her patients come from Newport Beach, Orange County and Palm Desert, and some have returned for ongoing care over several years.

She recommends starting under-the-radar cosmetic treatments before aging is apparent and treats the whole body and the whole face rather than only specific spots. She aims for results that look natural, ageless, vibrant and healthy, and she stays informed about new technology and advances in her field.
