Michael Lau, MD, FACS, FACOG

Michael Lau, MD, FACS, FACOG is a cosmetic vaginal surgeon at IntimMed, with a practice centred on labioplasty and vaginal rejuvenation as well as cosmetic surgery and sexual medicine. He has more than 25 years in cosmetic surgery. His training covers urogynecology, including pelvic plastic and reconstructive surgery, and cosmetic surgery, and he is a board-certified gynecologist. Before medical school he did graduate work at the University of Washington in nuclear and physical chemistry. He later completed an MBA at Oxford, focusing on technology development management. He has taken part in medical technology and device startups, holds several US patents with further applications pending, and belongs to the Society of Cosmetic Chemists. He is also a visiting scholar in the School of Engineering at UC Irvine, working on AI and other research. Presentations include cosmetic vaginal surgery at the Aesthetic Medicine World Congress in Monaco (2015), a study on labioplasty refinements in Paris (2016), and vaginal rejuvenation surgery at the World Meeting on Sexual Medicine in Lisbon (2018). He has developed minimally invasive surgical technology and, for cosmetic procedures, uses local anesthetic only. He offers non-surgical options. Cosmetic vaginal surgery should consider sexual function as well as appearance, and labioplasty does not reduce sexual sensation when meticulous technique is used.
