About
Melissa Doft founded Doft Plastic Surgery in New York, where she works as a plastic surgeon. She holds certification from two boards: the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. She is a clinical assistant professor of surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College, where she teaches plastic surgery to residents and aesthetic surgery fellows at Lenox Hill and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital.
She earned an undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Dartmouth College and a medical degree from the NYU School of Medicine. Surgical training came first at the Columbia campus of New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where she was chief resident, followed by plastic surgery in the joint Cornell and Columbia program at the same hospital. Further training took place at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Hospital for Special Surgery and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, and included a surgical elective in Paris under craniofacial surgeon Francoise Firmin. Her hospital affiliations are New York-Presbyterian, Lenox Hill, Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital and Greenwich Hospital.
Her practice spans cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, including breast and facial surgery, pediatric plastic surgery and non-invasive treatments. Her approach keeps each patient's individuality intact, aiming for results that look natural and remain recognisably their own. Consultations and photos of other patients help her understand what each patient hopes for. She has published peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, lectures nationally and internationally, and served as a visiting professor in China teaching ear molding and otoplasty. She has sat on advisory boards for Becon Medical and It Cosmetics by L'Oreal, and is a member of the Counsel for Discovery Science at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center.
