About

Mark Fortney practices acupuncture at Six Fishes in Philadelphia and lists L.Ac. as his credential. He sees clients for private and semi-private appointments, and also offers phone check-ins and free 15-minute discovery calls, all booked through the online scheduling site. He spent several years teaching history in New York City and the Hudson Valley before leaving public school teaching roughly 25 years ago. He holds a B.A. in East Asian Studies from Dickinson College and did graduate study at the University of Iowa, where he completed master's degrees in Anthropology and Education. He received his acupuncture master's from The Academy for Five Element Acupuncture in 2005. Afterward he spent about ten years in Asheville, North Carolina, growing an acupuncture practice and teaching at Daoist Traditions, then about ten years running his own clinic in Nashville, Tennessee. He has since returned to Pennsylvania and practices in Philadelphia. Fertility and women's health, including cycle regulation and perimenopause, are his main focus. In Nashville he worked at a women's health clinic serving people trying to conceive naturally as well as those using assisted reproduction. He has supported individuals and couples at many stages of fertility care, from regulating cycles and preparing for conception to care alongside IVF. He also studies the names and meanings of acupuncture points in order to refine how he uses them. He has been practicing for more than twenty years.
