Maria Garcia

Maria Garcia is the founder of Alternative Hair Couture in Glenview, where she works as a trichologist and hair loss specialist. She has been a licensed cosmetologist for more than 25 years, 19 of them at an Aveda salon in Highland Park, where she built her haircutting and color skills. Her precision cutting training includes five courses from Vidal Sassoon, and she has pursued advanced color study at Aveda academies across the country.

Her hair replacement training started in 2018 with mentor Sherri Reneé in Maryland. Her trichology levels 1 and 2 coursework was taken with the Italian Academy of Hair Microscopy in Florence. She has also studied polarized hair microscopy and epigenetic hair analysis in Spain, Canada and Puerto Rico. Her credentials include World Trichology Society certification as a trichologist, holistic trichology credentials through TOAM and Holistic Practitioners of Trichology under Nadia Hughes, board certification through the AADP, certification in Invisible Bead Extensions, and certification to custom fit and measure children for Wigs for Kids hair systems.

Each plan begins with scalp analysis and is built around the underlying causes of thinning hair. Treatments include epigenetic hair analysis through Epixlife and Cell Wellbeing, and Korean micro stimulation therapy through Benecell. Her clients include women, men and children experiencing thinning or hair loss, and some need a custom topper, wig or hair system. Consultations are offered in Spanish. She follows current research, techniques and innovations in the industry worldwide.
