Mahtab Forouzandeh, MD

Mahtab Forouzandeh, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist whose work spans medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. She practices general and cosmetic dermatology and laser surgery at Skin Associates of South Florida. Her blog byline lists MD, MPH and FAAD. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Miami while enrolled in its Advanced Program for Integrated Science and Math, and received the Departmental Honors Award in Biological Research. Her undergraduate research covered physiology, biophysics and neurological surgery. She earned an MD and a Master of Public Health from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, finishing at the top of her class, and then did a dermatology research fellowship in the university's dermatology department. Her dermatology residency at the University of Florida included roles as Chief of Cosmetic Clinic and Chief of Departmental Research. During residency she received the University of Florida Academic Distinction Award and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Her research identified inflammatory biomarkers of psoriasis and helped refine skin cancer screening using digital dermoscopy and total body photography. She has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications and multiple textbook chapters, and has given over 20 national conference presentations. She has also volunteered to provide medical access to underserved communities in the Caribbean.
