Luciana Takata, MD, PhD

Dr. Luciana Takata, who holds MD and PhD degrees, is a hair restoration surgeon and Mohs surgeon at the practice. She is an examiner for the oral certification exams of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and serves on the ISHRS Pro Bono Committee. She completed a Mohs fellowship in Houston, where she performed more than 700 Mohs cases, many involving complex reconstructions using flaps and grafts. She also worked at the Ruston Clinic in São Paulo, performing FUE hair transplants on men and women. In Campinas, Brazil, she founded the city's first Mohs surgery service and fellowship. Her clinical focus is complex hair and scalp disorders, including FUE, eyebrow reconstruction with long hair, and corrective work following earlier procedures. She has contributed chapters to the Unger Textbook of Hair Transplantation and Hair Transplant 360. Her surgical approach and her long-hair FUE eyebrow technique were featured in Dermatologic Surgery Journal, which also published her March 2024 study comparing strip harvesting with FUE. She offers pro bono work for patients who have lost hair due to trauma, accidents or cancer.
