Lavinia K. Chong

Dr. Lavinia K. Chong serves as Medical Director of her Newport Beach practice. She is a plastic surgeon with M.D. and F.A.C.S. credentials and has served Orange County from her private Newport Beach surgical suite for over 20 years. Earlier in her career, she was Division Chief of Plastic Surgery at Hoag Memorial Hospital in Newport Beach, and in 2003 she chaired the Division of Plastic Surgery at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian. She remains an active member of staff there. Her aesthetic work focuses on natural-looking facelifts, including neck lifts performed with the SMAS technique, as well as breast augmentation, tummy tucks and mommy makeovers. Her reconstructive experience includes capsulectomy for capsular contracture, breast lifts and breast reductions. Patients seeking a fuller facial result may have BOTOX combined with dermal fillers, and she is certified to apply and administer BOTOX, dermal fillers and Cutera Secret RF treatments. She trained at Wayne State University, where she earned her M.D. in 1988, after undergraduate study at the University of California, Irvine and a brief period of training in Mexico. She completed a three-year plastic surgery residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, followed by externships in micro-vascular surgery at M.D. Anderson in Houston, in aesthetic surgery under Dr. Thomas Baker in Miami, and in facelift technique and patient evaluation with Drs. Tom Baker, Howard Gordon and James Stuzin. She is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and holds a license from the Medical Board of California. She belongs to several plastic surgery societies, including the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the Orange County Society of Plastic Surgeons. According to the practice, her honors include Los Angeles Times Popular in the Southland 2021, Favorite Plastic Surgeons of Newport Beach for 2016 and 2017, and Patients' Choice Award wins in 2008, 2009 and 2012. She pursues continuing medical education beyond requirements, researches new technologies for safety and comfort before adopting them, and continues to refine her facelift technique.
