About
Lavinia K. Chong, M.D. is the owner and Medical Director of her plastic surgery practice in Newport Beach, California, and is a board-certified plastic surgeon. She is a second-generation cosmetic surgeon in Newport Beach and has treated patients across Orange County from her private surgical suite for more than 20 years. In 2003 she chaired the Division of Plastic Surgery at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, later serving as its Division Chief, and she remains an active member of the hospital's staff. Her cosmetic work focuses on facelifts, with a specialty in facelift surgery, along with breast augmentation, tummy tucks and mommy makeovers. The facelifts she performs are designed to look natural. Her reconstructive procedures include capsulectomy for capsular contracture, breast lifts and breast reductions. She is a breast revision surgeon of choice, and she is experienced with shaped (Gummy Bear) implants, which she is trained to place. She sees men and women for procedures on the face, body and breasts, and welcomes both new and long-standing patients. She considers outcomes to involve the whole person, including emotional health and the mind-body connection. Mommy makeovers are designed individually after a discussion of the patient's goals, and blepharoplasty can be added. For tummy tucks she prefers a direct incision to remove excess skin and fat in the upper pubic area rather than liposuction there. In breast augmentation consultations she reviews goals, anatomy and activities when helping choose implant type and size. Patients not yet ready for surgery may be encouraged to try a lesser procedure or to take a cooling-off period. She recommends fat grafting alongside face and neck lifts, and over 99% of her facelifts include neck work. She keeps current through continuing medical education and professional society membership, and tests new technologies for safety before adopting them. She has received the 19th Annual OC Register Best Cosmetic Surgeon Award and Patients' Choice Award recognition in 2008, 2009 and 2012.
