Kim McDonnell

Kim McDonnell created Hygge Aesthetics & Wellness and works there as an owner and therapist. Holding licenses as a Licensed Aesthetician (LE) and a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT), and as a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT), the work spans skin health, therapeutic bodywork and clinical education.

With more than 13 years in skin health, therapeutic bodywork and clinical education, the work includes ten years at Spa Mirbeau and three years in a medical spa. After training as a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, the practice expanded to include post-operative recovery and lymphedema care.

The focus covers skin health, therapeutic bodywork, lymphatic care, lymphedema therapy and post-operative recovery, including clinical lymphatic care for diagnosed or suspected lymphatic conditions. Lymphedema coursework covered lymphatic anatomy and physiology, Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Complete Decongestive Therapy, plus compression principles, fibrosis assessment, exercise and self-care education, and long-term management. Each lymphedema plan is tailored to the diagnosis, stage of care, symptoms and goals. Post-operative visits begin with an assessment of the procedure, surgery date, symptoms, compression garments and surgical instructions, and treatment is adjusted as recovery progresses, sometimes with medical clearance requested first. The approach sees the skin, muscles, lymphatic system, connective tissue and nerves as interconnected, and clients are helped to build a home skincare routine that fits their skin, lifestyle and budget.
