About
Katherine Sawyer owns FUTURE Vanity/Novelty in Oakland, where she also works as a salon educator, developing new stylists while keeping her own clientele. She began her career at 16, training early on with stylists and colorists in the Bay Area. She later opened her first salon, dava dava, on Union Street in San Francisco in 1992 and ran it for about 15 years. Many of her clients followed her from that earlier salon.
She studied at Jean Louis Deforge Academie in Paris and Toni & Guy Hair Academy in London. She is a Certified Master Colorist with Framesi, has taken advanced color classes in Davines PPD-free color, and completed an intensive color coaching class for Kemon covering NaYo, ammonia and PPD-free color. She has traveled to Italy and Spain for Framesi events and classes.
Her work includes styling for runway, television and video, and hair shows, along with bridal hair and makeup, which she has done for many years.
