About
Karen Jiménez is the artist and owner of Énez Beauty in Chicago.
She graduated from cosmetology school in 2014 and began working in the beauty industry that year. She first worked at a high-end salon and then at a boutique. Her training includes study in Colombia, where she learned about thicker hair, curly hair, extensions and keratin treatments. She also took part in an artist residency in Bogotá, Colombia, with the group Virreina.
Karen is expanding her creative work into art installations. Her sculptural wig project 'Lo Llevo En La Sangre' was inspired by a pre-Columbian poporo artifact in Bogotá's Museo de Oro.
