Julia

Julia has spent over 15 years styling hair and works as an independent stylist at Shades and Shapes Hair Studio in Suite 24 in Lexington, outside Boston. Most of her career was spent on the first block of Newbury Street before she opened her own studio.

She specializes in hair color and cutting, with gray hair blending as her main focus. Many of her clients come from across southern New England to have their gray hair camouflaged, and she also guides clients toward natural gray based on gray pattern, color history, timeline and budget. Reds she mixes run from strawberry and copper through to fashion shades and violet tones.

She cuts fine hair to add fullness with blunt lines or careful layering, and thick hair by reducing bulk with layering and texturizing, including bobs and shoulder-length cuts. She styles women in positions of authority who want a polished, professional look. With damaged blonde hair, she skips overlapping lightener and suggests trimming away the damaged ends.
