Joseph M. Brown

Joseph M. Brown, MD, FACS, is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon who owns SynergyMD Plastic Surgery in Tampa, which he opened in 2020. He earned a bachelor's degree in biology from West Virginia University in 2004, graduating magna cum laude, and an MD from Rutgers University New Jersey Medical School in 2009, finishing in the top 10% of his class. He trained in plastic surgery for six years at The Ohio State University, completing the residency in 2015. During training he built reconstructive skills, including restoring a natural appearance after cancer or complex trauma. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and scored higher than 96% of applicants who sat the exam in the year he was certified. He has years of experience in plastic surgery. He performs surgical procedures himself at SynergyMD and oversees all laser treatments at the Tampa office. His surgical work includes breast reduction, auto-augmentation (reshaping existing breast tissue without implants), nipple surgery and breast asymmetry correction, as well as mini and standard tummy tucks, lipo etching for targeted contouring, Brazilian butt lifts using the patient's own fat, and labiaplasty and labia majora surgery. He also offers PDGF treatments, including PDGF combined with microneedling. In planning, he first reviews a patient's goals, explains which options suit that patient's anatomy, and decides where each incision will go. He was named a Tampa Magazine Top Docs winner and is one of Tampa's leading cosmetic surgeons. He is affiliated with the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the American College of Surgeons, the Florida Medical Association and the Hillsborough County Medical Association, where he serves as an Executive Board Member. He also belongs to the Florida Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the Tampa Bay Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the Ben Rush Surgical Society.
