Jo-Anna Cassino

Jo-Anna Cassino owns Flipp Salon Apothecary and founded Botanic Providence, a plant-based self-care brand that includes herbal therapies. She describes her role at Flipp as owner, stylist and herbalist, and she is herbalist in residence at Shewatuck Farm in Exeter, Rhode Island.

She worked for two decades as a freelance and behind-the-chair hair and makeup artist, beginning as a stylist in the United States before working freelance in Italy until 2005. She has practiced as an herbalist since 2005, is an ongoing student at The School of Evolutionary Herbalism and other programs, and writes a blog on herbalism, seasonal wellness, and hair and scalp health. She sees hair and makeup as art, comparable to 3D painting and sculpture. She founded Flipp Salon Apothecary in 2011.
