About

James Nachbar is a plastic surgeon with dual board certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His private Scottsdale practice is limited to cosmetic work on the face, breast, body and skin. After a faculty career he returned to Arizona to open it, and he can be reached around the clock after surgery through a communication system he designed. His training started with an internship at the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he was one of twelve surgery interns, and he later served as chief resident in surgery there. At the University of Virginia he completed a plastic surgery residency as chief resident, then fellowships in microsurgery, hand surgery and burns at the same institution. He joined the plastic surgery faculty at the University of New Mexico, was later granted tenure, and served as chief of plastic surgery and program director of its residency, teaching medical students and plastic surgery residents. His service includes vice-chair of the Surgery Committee at HonorHealth Osborn from 2010 to 2016, election to the Arizona Medical Association board of directors and executive committee in 2019, and chairing the Emerging Trends Committee of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons since 2017. For four years he chaired the Computerized Exam Committee, which directed publication of the Computerized In-Service Exam in Plastic Surgery. He completed evening law school classes in Phoenix, graduating in December 2017, and passed the Arizona Bar Exam in February 2018. He has been recognized as a Top Doc by Phoenix Magazine and listed among Arizona's 100 best doctors for 2025, and he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Plastic Surgery Foundation.
