James J. Chao

James J. Chao, MD, FACS, serves as co-founder and chief medical officer of VedaNu Wellness. He is a board-certified plastic surgeon with over 25 years of work across plastic, reconstructive and hand surgery. Earlier, he was a Clinical Professor of Surgery at UC San Diego. He graduated with honors from Stanford University and earned his medical degree at NYU School of Medicine. His surgical training was completed at NYU Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital, followed by a fellowship in hand and microsurgical procedures. He also works to advance plastic surgery through research and education. His specialties include facial plastic surgery, with emphasis on facial rejuvenation and advanced skin resurfacing, as well as the deep plane facelift, breast surgery, body contouring and microsurgical procedures. He guides patients through weight loss and aesthetic treatment. Rhinoplasty is tailored to each patient's anatomy, facial proportions and aesthetic goals, and he personally performs every body procedure at the practice. He is recognized nationally for surgical skill and has appeared on Botched and The Doctors.
