James J. Chao, MD, FACS

James J. Chao, MD, FACS, co-founded VedaNu Wellness and is its chief medical officer. He is board-certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and has more than 25 years in plastic, reconstructive and hand surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He graduated with honors from Stanford University, earned his medical degree at NYU School of Medicine, trained surgically at NYU Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital, and then completed a fellowship in hand and microsurgical procedures. His facial work includes deep plane facelifts, facial rejuvenation, advanced skin resurfacing and breast surgery. On the body side, he performs extended tummy tucks, Brazilian butt lifts and post-weight-loss contouring, and he personally performs every body contouring procedure at the practice. He was earlier a Clinical Professor of Surgery at UC San Diego, where he helped train future surgeons. He co-founded Pacific Healthcare Alliance and has served as a team plastic and hand surgeon with the San Diego Chargers and at ESPN X Games. His memberships include the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Microsurgical Society and the Plastic Surgery Research Council. He has earned national recognition for surgical skill and bedside manner.
