About
James B. Lowe practices as a plastic surgeon at Lowe Plastic Surgery in Oklahoma City. He holds board certification in plastic surgery, and also in general surgery and hand surgery, which makes three certifications in total. He holds a B.A. in history and pre-medicine from Baylor University and earned his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine in 1992. Training followed: five years of general surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center, a plastic surgery residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center completed in 1999, and a hand, nerve and microsurgical fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, finished in 2000. In 2002 he received an M.B.A. in health sciences management from the Olin School of Business at Washington University. He began practicing in 2000. He later joined the Washington University faculty as an Assistant Professor of Surgery, and in 2004 he became Chief of Cosmetic Surgery at the university and Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He opened his own practice in Oklahoma City in August 2006. Roughly 80 percent of his caseload is cosmetic and 20 percent reconstructive, with many breast enhancement and body contouring procedures. His surgical focus covers the face, body and hand. His facial work spans eyelid surgery, facelifts, neck lifts, nose reshaping, laser treatment and injectables. At the Oklahoma City office he gives BOTOX Cosmetic and dermal filler injections himself rather than delegating them. Most of his patients arrive by referral. Before surgery he usually meets patients once or twice and asks them to bring their post-surgery caregiver to the final visit. He follows up after procedures, including a check roughly a year out. Reviews on the practice's website describe him as thorough in explaining procedures, detailed in answering questions and unpushy about recommendations. He is affiliated with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons and of the American College of Surgeons.
