About
Howard D. Sobel, M.D., founded Sobel Skin, a practice covering dermatology, cosmetic surgery and aesthetic medicine at 960 A Park Avenue on the Upper East Side, and he serves as its Medical Director. He earned a B.A. at SUNY Binghamton, trained at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, and completed his residency in dermatology and dermatologic surgery at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He spent 28 years as a clinical attending dermatologist at Beth Israel Medical Center, and 34 years as a clinical attending physician in dermatology and dermatologic cosmetic surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital. He was the first Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Cosmetic Surgery & Aesthetic Dermatology.
Much of his practice centers on injectables, mainly Botox and dermal fillers, including Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau and Restylane. He personally holds the consultations for Botox and filler injections, and he has performed thousands of injectable treatments. He performs liposuction, including micro-liposuction for small areas of stubborn fat. He has used the tumescent approach under local anesthesia for 35 years and was one of the first physicians to perform tumescent liposuction purely under local anesthesia, in 1986. He also performs sclerotherapy for varicose and spider veins in the legs. He has helped advance or develop the PIQO, Fraxel, Matrix, EmSculpt, Vanquish and SculpSure laser treatments.
For hair regrowth he offers a combined Alma TED and exosome protocol, a non-invasive option for thinning or shedding hair. Each exosome treatment contains over 2 billion exosomes and is meant to stimulate dormant follicles and speed visible regrowth. Castle Connolly and New York Magazine recognized him as one of the best cosmetic dermatologic surgeons in New York for 21 consecutive years. He has been quoted by The Today Show, CNN, CBS News, Vogue and The New York Times. He has built relationships with Upper East Side patients over more than 20 years.
