Flora Shepelsky

Flora Shepelsky founded Design by Flora in 2005 and works there as its designer and artisan. She started beauty school at sixteen and trained at a wig atelier in Brooklyn. Alongside that, she worked for a Brooklyn custom wig maker and stylist while styling hair at a Manhattan salon.

She later spent close to twenty years at a worldwide wig manufacturer, where she chose, built and styled European hair. At the studio her focus is sheitels, multidirectional and skin-top pieces, hair toppers and cranial prostheses. She has fitted pieces from the Teaneck studio since 2005.

She has worked with clients facing hair loss from chemotherapy or alopecia, pattern hair loss and thinning, as well as clients who want a fresh look. She keeps developing new designs, reviews the details of each collection and meets clients in person. Each piece is hand-fitted in a private room by appointment, and toppers are color-matched to the client's own hair in the studio instead of a color ring. She will say when another piece, such as a lighter band fall or a topper, could suit a client better than the one they came for. Fittings carry no obligation to buy.
