Esther Njingu, PMHNP

Esther Njingu is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Diamond Lake Clinic, focusing on psychiatry and medication management. She is board certified in her specialty. She received a Master's Degree in Nursing with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specialty from Walden University, completing it in 2023.

Her nursing career now exceeds 15 years. It started as a Registered Nurse in memory care facilities in the Twin Cities and was followed by more than 10 years as a Registered Nurse at a county hospital. Her patients include people with bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, ADHD, PTSD and drug-induced mental illness. Her approach addresses physical health, mental health, daily functioning and overall well-being together, and she works with other clinicians when a client's needs call for it.

She attends conferences, peer gatherings and other continuing education to keep her skills current. She feels mental health has not always been regarded as a core part of health care and hopes to help change that.
