About

Dr. Teri N. Moak is a board-certified, fellowship-trained plastic surgeon at Core Plastic Surgery in Birmingham. She performs aesthetic surgery of the face, breast and body, with particular interest in facial rejuvenation and complex breast surgery. Her facial work includes endoscopic brow and midface lifting, deep plane face and neck lifts, and other rejuvenation procedures. She is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Physics and Biochemistry and studied biophysical chemistry at the University of Mississippi. She earned a Master of Science in Biological Sciences from Mississippi College and studied physical therapy at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and completed an integrated plastic surgery residency at Washington University in St. Louis at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. She then trained as a fellow in an Aesthetic Society-endorsed aesthetic plastic surgery fellowship under Dr. Grady Core in Birmingham, having previously worked with him in the operating room. After that fellowship she joined Core Plastic Surgery as a practicing surgeon.

Her published research covers autologous fat grafting outcomes, poly-L-lactic acid injections for body contouring and women in plastic surgery. She is a member of The Aesthetic Society, the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Her honors include an APEX Grand Award, a James Barrett Brown Research Day award and a patient safety poster award.

Her approach favors considered refinements that keep the features a patient already values. Her consultations cover what the patient hopes to change, what matters about that change, and an open discussion of options, tradeoffs, risks, recovery and realistic improvement. She helps patients work through questions and concerns during recovery, and handles complications if they occur.

Approach
Starts consultations by asking what the patient hopes to change and what they need to feel comfortable deciding, then lays out options candidly, including whether surgery is appropriate at all.
