About
Dr. Grady Core founded Core Plastic Surgery and designed the Birmingham center. He is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, certified in November 1994, and also by the American Board of Surgery, with recertification in 1998. He holds M.D. and F.A.C.S. credentials, is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is a member of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
His training started with a Bachelor of Science with honors from the University of Arkansas in 1977. He earned his medical doctorate there in 1981 and completed general surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences through 1984. He then did general surgery at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, served a chief residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, and trained in plastic surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, from 1989 to 1991. He had earlier taught at Oral Roberts. Afterward he was a clinical instructor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, became a clinical assistant professor at Tulane University School of Medicine, and led the division of plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans before returning to Birmingham in 1996.
He co-developed an endoscopic plastic surgery technique in 1991 and began teaching it in 1992. He is known for endoscopic brow lifts, endoscopic breast augmentation and lateral access blepharoplasty, and has taught eyelid surgery to other surgeons since about 2005. He is a pioneer in endoscopic plastic surgery and is award-winning. He received the Jerome R. Klingbeil Award for Teaching Excellence from the ASAPS in 2018, was selected for Best Doctors in the U.S. Southeast Region for 1996 to 1997, and is listed in Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.
His practice includes an extended deep plane combination facelift and neck lift, along with facial and nasal surgery, aesthetic breast surgery, body contouring and cosmetic laser surgery. He also uses dermal fillers and injectables. At consultation he evaluates skin to judge whether laser skin resurfacing or another treatment suits the patient, and reviews medical history, skin care, past treatments, and current medications and supplements. For hair restoration he works with NeoGraft, follicular unit extraction and the ARTAS iX robotic system. He believes patients should be able to choose both their surgeon and their procedure, and he shapes each result around anatomy, lifestyle and goals. Patients have seen results for over 20 years.
