About

Dr. Steven Pearlman leads Pearlman Aesthetic Surgery, a private practice near Park Avenue in Manhattan that he founded in 2000. He practices there as the surgeon and is a clinical professor at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He earned a bachelor's degree in biology at Brandeis University, graduated from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1982, finished an otolaryngology-head and neck surgery residency there in 1987, and trained in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at St. Luke's/Roosevelt Hospital from 1987 to 1988. His main focus is rhinoplasty, including revision work to correct earlier results, where he treats both breathing problems and appearance. He uses piezo ultrasonic and preservation techniques, and the practice says he was among the first surgeons in the United States to perform piezo ultrasonic rhinoplasty. He also performs septoplasty and facelifts, and prefers the deep plane facelift, which he teaches. Listings vary on his volume: one cites more than 12,000 rhinoplasty procedures, another more than 7,500 rhinoplasties and septoplasties. He treats facial injury patients, including those who need reconstructive surgery, as well as aesthetic patients, and draws patients from New York City, the Tri-State area and farther afield. He has served as past president of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and as founding president of the New York Facial Plastic Surgery Society. He directs the Center for Aesthetic Facial Surgery at the New York Head and Neck Institute of Northshore-LIJ/Northwell, is an attending surgeon at Lenox Hill Hospital and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, lectures internationally on rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty and facial aging, and mentors facial plastic surgeons. Outside the office, he has done pro bono surgery through the Humanitarian Face to Face program in China, Honduras and Vietnam, works with the National Domestic Violence Project on reconstructive surgery, and sits on the medical advisory board of the Little Babyface Foundation, where he performs pro bono reconstructive surgery for children born with facial deformities. The practice says he has been named a Top Doctor more than 10 times by New York Magazine and Castle Connolly and has received the Patients' Choice Award more than 10 times. He has been featured in The New York Times, Vogue, W, Elle, InStyle, Esquire and RealSelf News, according to the practice.
