About

Dr. Robert Leonard founded Leonard Hair Transplant Associates and serves as a director of New England Cosmetic and the Hair Health Institute. He holds a Clinical Associate Professor appointment in Family Medicine and Dermatology at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. His listed hospital appointments are South County Hospital for surgery and Rhode Island Hospital for medicine. He received a B.A. in zoology with a minor in psychology from the University of New Hampshire in 1981, a D.O. from the University of New England in 1986, an internship at Metropolitan General Hospital in 1987, and a family practice residency at Parkview Hospital in 1988.

He completed his hair restoration surgery fellowship under Dr. Constantine P. Chambers at the Chambers Hair Institute. He has worked at the forefront of hair restoration and cosmetic rejuvenation in New England for more than 30 years, and has offered low-level laser therapy for hair loss for over 25 years. From 1991 to 1999 he was Secretary of the Rhode Island Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline. He sat on the University of New England Board of Trustees from 1991 to 1997 and again from 2007 to 2017.

His surgical focus is hair restoration, and he also offers cosmetic injectables, including neurotoxins and fillers, for facial rejuvenation. In 2019 he completed the AMI Master Course Training Program for Botox Cosmetic, the Juvederm collection and Kybella, and he has received in-service training on the Cutera TruSculpt ID system. He treats both men and women with Juvederm products and has treated hair thinning and loss for more than three decades. His aim is results that look natural rather than overdone.

His CV also lists the Rome Award, the Milestone Award for Ethics in Hair Restoration Surgery, an International Archimedes recognition for excellence in hair restoration surgery, and a listing among Boston Magazine's Top Doctors in October 2016.
