Dr. Rita Shats

Dr. Shats is a surgeon and serves as Director of Cosmetic Gynecology at New Look New Life, which she joined in 2014. She leads the cosmetic gynecology and women's intimate wellness program. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Bernard Baruch College and a Doctor of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine in 2003, then completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Center of New York, where she was chief resident and research coordinator. Vaginal rejuvenation is central to her practice and includes vaginoplasty, labiaplasty, clitoral hood reduction, perineoplasty and hymenoplasty. She also treats menopausal symptoms and sexual dysfunction. Her gender-affirming surgical work includes top surgery, bottom revision surgery, and facial feminization and masculinization. She performs vaginoplasty revision surgery to address aesthetic or functional concerns that follow an original vaginoplasty. Dr. Shats teaches as an instructor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York Medical College and is Director of Medical Education at American University of Antigua and St. George School of Medicine. She founded Pavlides, Benson & Shats Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates, P.C., and also holds appointments at Richmond University Medical Center. In consultations she invites partners to take part in discussing couples' concerns, aiming for a safe, open setting with holistic care. She believes every woman should be able to live confidently and without discomfort, and she aims to educate women about their options. She serves women from diverse backgrounds. She received the Power Woman in Business Award (2017), the America's Top Ob/Gyn Award (2013), multiple Dean's List awards and the Dean's Scholar Award.
