Dr. Melanie Malone

Dr. Melanie Malone is a facial plastic surgeon and facelift specialist practicing in La Jolla, and she is double board certified. Her surgical work centers on the face and neck, with a subspecialty limited to facial surgery. Her listed specialties include deep plane facelifts, neck lifts, mini facelifts, fat transfer, rhinoplasty and eyelid surgery. She is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and by the American Board of Head and Neck Surgery. She is a diplomate of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and holds fellow status in that academy and in the American College of Surgeons.

She graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University with a B.A. in biological sciences, then earned her MD at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Her general surgery internship and head and neck surgery residency took place at Columbia University New York Presbyterian Hospital. She completed her aesthetic fellowship at the New York Center for Facial Plastic and Laser Surgery, a program sponsored by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, where she trained directly with facelift surgeon Dr. Andrew Jacono.

Early in her career she served as an Assistant Professor of Facial Plastic Surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, where she performed complex reconstructive surgery for patients with disfigurement from cancer or trauma. Her research has received grants from the National Institutes of Health and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and has earned awards at national meetings. It has appeared in journals including Aesthetic Surgery Journal, JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery and Facial Plastic Surgery. She founded her own skin clinic in La Jolla, where she performs facial rejuvenation procedures.
