About
Dr. Marlene Shiple owns Counselors Associated and works as a psychotherapist and life transitions coach in private practice. She also serves as an executive consultant and corporate coach, and works as a hypnotherapist. She has practiced for over 45 years and founded The Life Coach Dr., LLC, which has provided distance life coaching since 2000, and she built an online life coaching practice after years of virtual coaching through Find-a-Therapist.
She holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and a Master of Science in behaviorally-oriented Industrial Engineering. She is a member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT). Early in her career she treated NFL players in the late 1990s and spent 13 seasons working with the Arizona Cardinals football team. She has owned and operated two client-service businesses since 1975, and she is a published author, lecturer and Amazon best-selling author.
Her focus includes grief, trauma, stress and the loss of a loved one. In hypnosis she works on habit change, pain management and reduction, and releasing mental-emotional blocks, starting with an intake of the outcomes a client wants and teaching self-hypnosis to reinforce in-office sessions. In retirement coaching she helps clients build a meaningful life across the roughly 30 years after a first career. In sexuality therapy she works with individuals and couples and often involves both partners. Her coaching is tailored to each client's needs, personality, values and goals.
