About
Dr. John Kang is a facial plastic surgeon and the physician behind JK Facial Plastics. He holds an MD and the F.A.C.S. credential, and is a diplomate of the American Board of Facial Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery and of the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
He earned a BA in Biology from Columbia College in 1984 and an MD with Distinction in Research from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1988. He completed a general surgery internship at Beth Israel Medical Center in 1993, otolaryngology, head and neck surgery residency training at SUNY Buffalo, and a facial, plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship at the Dyer Facial Plastic Center at Emory University in 1994. He joined New York Ear, Head and Neck Surgical Associates in 1995, where his work centered on oncologic surgery and reconstructive surgery of the face, head and neck.
In 1997 he turned his practice toward cosmetic and plastic surgery of the face and neck, with a particular emphasis on Asian-American patients. He combines surgical and non-surgical options, individualized to each patient, and recommends filler types after an in-person consultation. He also takes each patient's before and after photos himself. For acne, he has provided a medical-grade acne facial for about 20 years, used a Sciton 1319 laser for acne for about 15 years, and used Fraxel technology for acne scars for nearly 15 years. Allergan, the maker of Botox and Juvederm, recognizes him as a Gold Member of its physician network.
