About

Dr. David E. Halpern is a plastic surgeon holding MD and FACS credentials, practicing at Tampa Bay Plastic Surgery, Inc. on Fremont Avenue. He has served the Tampa Bay area since 2001 and has practiced for roughly two decades. He currently holds the posts of Chief of Plastic Surgery at Tampa General Hospital, Medical Director of the Wound and Hyperbaric Center at Memorial Hospital, and Associate Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of South Florida. Formerly Chief of Staff at Memorial Hospital in Tampa, he was elected president of the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons in 2022 and now leads the Florida Hand Society. He has worked on the regular Hand Call Team at Tampa General Hospital for 15 years. He earned his medical degree at New York University and trained at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City and at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He holds three board certifications: plastic and reconstructive surgery, general surgery through the American Board of Surgery, and micro-hand surgery. He is triple-board certified. He has published in peer-reviewed plastic surgery and hand surgery journals in the US. He has also helped train the next generation of plastic surgeons through his leadership roles. He has appeared on The Doctors and Rachael Ray to discuss Strawberry technology. His hand work focuses on micro-hand surgery, which requires an operating microscope. Plastic surgery services include breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction and implant revision; facial rejuvenation such as endoscopic facelifts, brow lifts, blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty and fat transfer; and body contouring including ultrasonic liposuction, tummy tucks, arm and thigh liposuction and lifts, and male pectoral and calf implants. He personally performs every PBME injection and co-developed the PBME technique with industry leaders. After a consultation on a patient's goals and lifestyle, he works with the practice's medical aestheticians on skin care regimen recommendations.
