Dr. Crystal Porter

Dr. Crystal Porter is the founder, owner and president of Mane Insights, and serves as its head scientist. She holds a PhD. Her corporate career was spent mostly at L'Oréal USA, where she managed the Physics Laboratory and Consumer Insights teams. She studied the biophysical characteristics of hair and pigmented skin across ethnic groups. Her work has included international projects studying hair from around the world and the effects of products and treatments on it. She has published research findings in peer-reviewed journals and has been in the hair industry since 2000. She left L'Oréal USA with more than a decade of expertise. She focuses on the specific needs of curly and ethnic hair and on hair and consumer research. She consults with individuals, professionals and industry leaders, and has keynoted hair care and entrepreneurial events.
