About
Dr. Charles M. Boyd is a facial plastic surgeon and the medical director of BOYD, an aesthetic practice he founded in 2009. He holds a medical degree from Harvard Medical School and an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. Howard University gave him his bachelor's degree, which he finished in three years with Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude honors. The practice reports that he is triple board-certified, with credentials from the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Before he opened the first BOYD office in Birmingham, he spent more than 14 years as a full-time University of Michigan faculty member, an assistant professor in dermatology and otolaryngology who also served as associate chief of staff of the University of Michigan Health System.
His practice covers facial rejuvenation through surgical and nonsurgical means, including facelifts, brow and eye lifts, rhinoplasty and neck lifts, along with cosmetic dermatology and laser surgery. He has trained hundreds of physicians in advanced injection techniques using Botox and Juvederm, and he trains and supervises every aesthetic provider at the practice. His research has appeared in medical and surgical journals, he has written book chapters on cosmetic surgery, and he has taken part in studies including FDA trials of cosmetic products. He lectures on cosmetic surgery in the United States and abroad. His work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, the Boston Globe and The Washington Post, as well as on television and radio.
He volunteers with World Medical Missions for at least two weeks a year, performing cleft lip and cleft palate surgery on children in Kenya, and sits on the board of Bethany Kids, a nonprofit providing healthcare to children in East Africa. According to the website, he is one of the nation's top facial plastic surgeons and Michigan's number one Silhouette InstaLift provider, ranked in the top 1 percent of Allergan providers nationwide with black diamond and Allergan Top 50 status, and he received Galderma Presidential Elite status.
