Dr. Brian Shafa

Dr. Brian Shafa is a board-certified plastic surgeon with an MD who practices at Brian Shafa Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills. He holds surgical privileges at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he also volunteers regularly. After completing surgical training, he returned to Beverly Hills to start a cosmetic surgery practice. He works with patients from Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and the wider Los Angeles area, and has also cared for patients from across the United States and abroad.

His training began at Wayne State University School of Medicine, where he earned his MD. He also earned a medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He completed a general surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit from 2012 to 2017, then a plastic surgery residency at the University of Illinois Chicago from 2017 to 2020. He also holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Johns Hopkins University and completed research years at Harvard Medical School, focused on cancer biology and genetics, and at UCLA, focused on epigenetic control in cancer development. His training also covers reconstructive surgery, burn care, wound care and hand surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

His practice centers on custom breast lifts, breast reductions and breast revisions, and he performs both surgical and non-surgical face and body procedures, including body contouring, HD liposuction and custom body implants. He also works with male patients on face and body procedures, such as upper and lower eyelid lifts, rhinoplasty (which can address nasal shape and structural breathing issues or repair injury), forehead reduction, outpatient otoplasty for oversized, protruding or damaged ears, and male breast reduction.

He was recognized as Best of Beverly Hills for 2023 through 2026 and selected as an LA Magazine Top Doctor for 2026, and he received the Golden Heart Award from Wayne State, which is presented to one medical student each year. During medical school he volunteered at free clinics in Detroit and served as vice president of the Gold Humanism Honors Society. He co-founded MESI, a Clinton Global Initiative project on malaria and infectious disease in Haiti, and has provided patient care in Belize and Honduras. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Medical Association.
