Doug M. is a Master Massage Therapist with orthopedic massage as a specialty. He has worked for about a decade in spas in Boston, Quincy and Cambridge, and now practices at the Arlington location of Water House Wellness.
He graduated from the Salter School in West Boylston, Massachusetts, in 2008. While a student there, he studied under Rich Nadeau of Exhale in Boston and Nikki Campanale of Revitalize in Worcester. He still follows the work of leading figures and innovators in massage therapy.
His sessions draw on deep tissue, orthopedic massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, Swedish massage and lymphatic drainage. Swedish massage forms the base, using a small set of techniques that can be adapted to many kinds of muscle tension. He works with back, hip and neck pain, headaches, jaw pain, spine issues that press on soft tissue, and repetitive injuries, sprains and strains.
Rather than treating only the sore spot, he focuses on the tension itself and the surrounding areas that may contribute to it.
