Derek H. Jones, M.D.

Derek H. Jones, M.D., directs Skin Care and Laser Physicians of Beverly Hills, a practice he founded in 1999. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and is board-certified in dermatology. He holds a Bachelor of Science with high honors from Tufts University and a Doctor of Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine, and he completed his dermatology residency at Columbia University in New York in 1997, where he was Chief Resident. From 1999 to 2017 he was a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine in the Dermatology Division of UCLA's David Geffen School of Medicine. His work centers on aesthetic dermatology, combining injectable fillers, BOTOX and lasers to refresh the face through minimally invasive treatment, and he also treats general skin disorders. In clinical trials he was Principal Investigator on studies that led to FDA approval of Juvederm, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Belotero, Latisse and Xeomin, and Lead Investigator on the FDA study for Kybella and Juvederm Voluma. His current FDA research examines minimally invasive injectables that shape and contour the face. He has published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and given over 300 scholarly lectures. He edited Injectable Fillers: Principles and Practice, published by Wiley-Blackwell, and a companion volume, Injectable Fillers: Facial Contouring and Shaping, is in progress. He has sat on the editorial boards of the Journal of Dermatologic Surgery, Aesthetic Surgery and Medicine, and Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy, and he is on the board of directors of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and of that society and serves on the postgraduate education committees of both. He is also a member of the American Medical Association. He has been featured as a dermatology expert on ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and Lifetime and has been interviewed by The New York Times and Vogue. The practice describes him as a world-renowned leader in injectable fillers and says the Consumer's Research Council of America named him one of America's Top Dermatologists in 2010. It also calls him the physician of choice for many leading celebrities and says he appeared in national ad campaigns for BOTOX, JUVÉDERM, BELOTERO, RADIESSE and Kybella. A patient review on the practice's site says he has helped pharmaceutical companies bring several products to market.
