David McCarthy

David McCarthy owns Sundown & Rise Up and works as a stylist there. He earned a fine arts degree from George Mason University and graduated from Graham Webb International Academy in Washington, D.C.

He began his career as an assistant at Roche Salon in Georgetown, then worked as a stylist at P.R. @ Partners in downtown Washington, D.C., and spent a short time at Bang salon. He spent eight years at Bellini's salon in Vienna, where he also worked as an educator and at industry hair shows. In 2017 he moved to John Edwards Hair Design, and he later opened Sundown & Rise Up as his own studio.

He trained under Michael O'Rourke and Oribe Canales, and most recently under Johnny Ramirez and Anh Co Tran of Ramirez/Tran Salon in Beverly Hills, California. He has also trained with Chad Kenyon, Sal Salcedo and Cherin Choi of Nova Arts Salon in downtown Los Angeles.
