David K. Avram

David K. Avram is a board-certified dermatologist and a surgeon with fellowship training in cosmetic and laser procedures, practicing at Heights Dermatology and Laser. He holds an Assistant Clinical Professor post at SUNY Downstate. Earlier, he was Co-Chair of the Dermatology Department at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, overseeing resident training and education in the field. His focus includes Mohs micrographic surgery for non-melanoma skin cancers and laser work on cosmetic and medical skin conditions, using Fraxel, Pulse-Dye Laser and Thermage. He treats acne, psoriasis, eczema, skin cancer and pediatric dermatology conditions. He has carried out more than 2,000 Mohs surgeries and regularly teaches his own fellows the technique. Early in his career he contributed to peer-reviewed research on Thermage for skin tightening and on lasers for acne and for preventing acne scars. He graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and received his MD from Penn State's Milton Hershey College of Medicine. His dermatology residency was at Harvard Medical School, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in cosmetic, laser and dermatological surgery in San Diego, California. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and of the American Society of Mohs Surgeons, and a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He has written several peer-reviewed journal articles and has lectured at many dermatology meetings.
